Magdalena Berny is a professional photographer, who focuses on portraiture, but primarily take sphotographs of children. She does this because her style of photography is very soft and elegant and almost innocent, this reflects the gils in the photographs, bringing out their personalities.
About Magdalena Berny;

Here I have annotated some photographs
Magdalena Berny

Magdalena Berny effectively creates emotion through the colour tone of her photographs, which is what she has done in this photograph effectively. As this is a studio shoot, the lighting has been purposely focused on the front of her body. This enhances the colour red in contrast with the dark background. The material of the red cloth looks a little like fog, fading away into the darkness, this adds to the eerie aspect of the photograph. As the girl has her hands on her face it shows that she is somehow distressed, this adds to the eerie atmosphere, as it seems almost different and not something that would usually happen, this makes the observer think and ask questions about the photograph.
I particularly like this photograph, as the colours are really vibrant, making the girl in the middle stand out. The greenery around her frames the girl in the photograph, this draws attention to her, however the girl herself is blurred a little, this adds to the ‘deep in thought’ aspect that makes the atmosphere in this photograph. The rule of thirds is not obeyed in this photograph, but it has been avoided very effectively, as the trees frame the girl, so it is only right if she was composed in the centre of the photograph. I also like that the composition of the photograph is zoomed out so that there is more of the surroundings rather than the focus being the girl. However because the trees all have a similar green, in contrast with the girls white dress, the focus of the photograph is essentially the girl anyway.
